FuDgE

So, I made a pan of fudge yesterday, and my cookbook has a handy thing below each recipe telling you how many pounds you should expect to gain by eating that particular thing. For the fudge, it said that each serving has 59 calories. I thought "WOW! Fudge is healthy! YAY FOR ME!" Well, the fudge recipe fits into an 8 X 8 pan, and for this particular recipe, there are 64 serving. SIXTY-FOUR. That equates to each serving size to be 1/8 inch by 1/8 inch square...nay, slice. No, it's more like I can sniff it gently and get my serving. Needless to say, I have had enough fudge for about 32 people. Kinda sick...But don't worry, I didn't sniff it all through my nose.

That was some toxic choc sniffing! My math calculations indicate that the size of a serving would be one inch-square. If you ate the whole pan you would consume about 3800 calories; that's about a one pound gain in weight.

Sigh...If only one pound were what you would gain! Sigh...I think chocolate makes you gain 3X the weight.

By the way, I know they are one inch square...I just thought what I said was funnier

64 servings! What the crud! Next you'll be telling me there's two servings in a bottle of pop.

Smaller serving sizes usually fool people, as you can see. It's a sneeky gimmick! People either don't pay attention to the serving size when they see so few calories, or they give up once they've tasted how wonderful the food really is despite how much it costs them in the end. Judging by your blog entry, I'd say you are one of the later, as am I. Let's just hope most of those aren't fat calories though! They are the worst.
