Nude

I went to Costco a few weeks ago, and after making my purchases, wandered out, stopping briefly at the Receipt Lady.

She looked over my receipt and then my cart, and then said, bemused, "Her (meaning Lily) pajamas are on backwards."

"Yeah," I replied. "We did it on purpose so she doesn't rip off her diaper and run around naked."

The Receipt Lady then started coughing violently and I imagined she was choking on her gum or spit or something, and when I asked her if she was okay she turned a bright, smiling face towards me and, still coughing, replied, "Yes..that's the funniest thing I have ever heard!"

I guess I had become immune to it. We've been dressing Lily exclusively in backward footy pajamas for months. I even went so far as to cut the feet off the ones that were her size. The rest of them are Eva's old ones that I just twist the legs around so that the feet are facing the right way.

Normally, I would say to myself, "Gee, that probably means she is ready to potty train," but I gotta tell ya...Potty training is highly over rated.

Apparently the thought crossed Lily's mind, though, because I found her straddling the toilet in her pajamas on one of the rare occasions that the bathroom door was left open. When I found her, she looked up at me and exclaimed, "POOH!" to accentuate her intentions. She had apparently made it up there by stepping IN the toilet, and she had sopping wet pajamas, which had dripped onto the floor creating a germy puddle.

I figure when she isn't a miniature anymore I will attempt potty training. But, I don't mind the pajamas or the diapers. It's just easier that way.

So, I guess the moral of the story is, don't let people tell you that your child should be potty trained by some arbitrary date, ie. by 1-year-old, or 18 months. You know your kid. If they are too darn small to get on the toilet without a ladder or without having to step into the bowl, then just be patient, and tell those other people to back off.

Ha ha ha!

You're actually pretty brilliant with the backward pajama move. Good luck to you!
