IQ

For the heck of it, I did some online IQ tests. Now, I really don't put any stock into these tests, but they are fun to take, and give me some self validation (I know I'm smart, and now this test proves I'm smart, and they say I am smarter than 99 % of everybody else, and I just so happen to agree.).

As I was quickly jotting down which number came next in the sequence, and how tall Bob actually is compared to his two friends, John and Jeff, I came across another kind of test: The Emotional IQ test. I thought to myself, "Hey, I am emotional, this should be cake!"

So, I went through the 106 questions (what the...?) and I eagerly awaited my results. I apparently have the Emotional IQ of a turnip. It was rather disappointing. But I should have seen it coming. I mean, really, when your honest answer to "Do you feel like something you have done only has worth when another person says it has value?" is a resounding "YEEEEEEESSSS!!!!" then you know you have problems.

Still, it bothers me.
"Do you make friends and acquaintances easily?"
"No."
"Do you think it is helpful to talk about things in the past, as a way to overcoming those things?"
"No, but I do it anyway."

"Do you feel comfortable showing affection for people you love?"
"I guess it depends on if they show love first, and won't smack me if I get too close."

But, hey, it's an online test, right? What kind of validity do they really have?

The only kind of tests that are right are the ones that tell me I am better than 99 % of people. I need that validation. Why won't you give it to me?! Why do you have to make me feel bad about myself? What did I ever do to you??! You are just saying that to make me feel bad, aren't you? Well, Mr. IQ test, I think YOU are the one with the emotional problems. I hear by declare that YOU are the one who is emotionally quadriplegic!

Anyway...Perhaps some anger management might do me good...Here are some pictures to increase your IQ! Enjoy!

Too funny... don't take those tests too seriously... but don't completely throw them out the window. If you learned something about yourself, then it's not completely pointless, is it?

There's an old saying, "Beauty is as beauty does." What does THAT mean? I bet you won't find it on any IQ test. ("Smart is as smart does" must be a corollary.)

In the long run, being smart won't get us into heaven will it? (Good looks won't either.)

Having emotional hang ups could actually be a blessing in disguise-- if it makes us humble. Loving and gentle IS (because it "DOES")

I've obviously LOST my marbles.... OH! there they go now . . . . . . . . :D

I haven't taken one of those tests in ages! I don't find them worth the time or effort, I mean...it's not like they are going to make me any smarter if I prove I'm smart? It just informs me what skills I've lost or need to work on if I want to have a better score and so on. I'd rather spend that time getting things done, because that's what makes me feel of worth.
