Tipping the scales...

So, I need to lose 33 pounds. Yes, I can hear your shocked gasps. My mother-in-law insisted that I was too skinny when I got married (33 pounds ago), and was trying to tell me that I didn't need to lose much...Until she remembered that that memory belonged to her other daughter-in-law, Kathy. Sigh...

I have been trying to lose weight for about a year now, ever since I had my baby, and for a while I was making progress. My neighbors and I had a competition going on last year to see who could lose the most weight before the new year, and I WON! I celebrated by eating 5 boxes of Lorna Doones and gained it all back in under 3 minutes... ...the 3 minutes following weight in.

Darn Lorna Doones...

My new goal is to lose all this extra whale blubber before this new year. I have it all worked out! If I lose 2 pounds (no small feat) a week, I will be all skinny at 12am January 1, 2009! Feelin' fine, 2009!

I made this resolve this morning, after I ate four chocolate chip cookies for breakfast. (Sesame Street has got it right now...Yes...Cookies are a sometimes food...) Last night I made cookies because my sister-in-law, Jennifer, was in town, and I thought a little tasty treat would be fun! My mom came over later and when I offered her one, she looked like she was going to throw up and politely shook her head. I felt so sad she rejected them that I ate 5 to console myself.

So, there is my plan, folks! I thought about keeping a weight log to keep you all informed of my progress, but I don't think I will...that way I can eat cookies without having to sit in the closet.

What the FREAK is this???!!!! LOL!

Well, I had four Lorna Doones today, even though I had to beg for them. I am happy to say that after I left the place where I ate them, I weight a pound and a half less than when I walked in. Wuhu!

How is it possible? And do you think you need to be 33 lbs lighter to be pre-baby weight?

What are Lorna Doones?

Every time I went on an exercise plan, I kept track of my weight loss. It was kind of cool to watch the pounds melt away.

@Dad: Where were you before you "left the place where [you] ate them"? Don't tell me you went dumpster diving and got some free ones, did you?

@Amy: My wife was chug-a-licous between our first and second, but she lost it all after the second. In fact, she weighs less now than when we first got married. Usually you never get to your pre-baby weight, but Tam-a-kins did.

@Dara: If your weight loss program doesn't work, you can do P90X with me. Search for it online, you will see how awesome it is. I haven't bought it yet, though. I was waiting until I got really fat.

Security word: npguabfe - the sound you make while eating Lorna Doones donuts. "Ahhh, these are so good -- npguabfe, mmmmhhmmmm npguabfe..."

OH MY GOSH! YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT A LORNA DOONE IS!??? It's the BEST Short bread cookie in the world! I was introduced to them in the hospital when I had Eva. You should run over to the store and get some NOW! YUMMY!
No, I lost all my baby weight. That was great! I lost all my prego weight about 3 weeks after both my kids. I just got really happy and content when I married Jeremy and I guess my body decided it was okay to gain 20 lbs. I have been really stressed the last few weeks and stress makes you gain weight...sigh...

Sigh...those were the days...I was spritely and sproingy. I could run and run, and...well, not really. I was no better a runner than I am now. But still...I think all my fat collects around my belly button. THANK YOU MOM AND DAD FOR VISITING ME AND BRING ME CANDY! Adversity has it's upside. And by the way, that cold pack is SO NICE. I think I will just carry it around forever.

I know what you can do when your stressed to help lose weight. And, it isn't eating food. LOL.

ckeihvfu - the sound you make when you are trying to lose weight, but not when you are eating.
