My Little Worker Bee
Jeremy's been loaded up with tons of work the last few months. With the layoffs, they're practically running on a skeleton crew.
Jerm's been a trooper through it all. He just plugs along, trying to meet deadlines, and keep the peace at the same time.
This morning, he called me and when I answered I gave a sleepy "hello," and got a depressed "hel-loow..." in return.
"What's the matter?" I asked.
"Oh, they've pushed up the deadline for the presentation, which means I'll have to stay here until it's done..."
We talked a little longer, and then he had to run to a meeting.
I had been reading an article beforehand about being supportive of and positive with your spouse, and so, since he seemed a little down, I sent him an encouraging text:
"Keep throwing up that honey, my little worker bee!"
He responded with:
"....gross..."
"It's cute when you do it!" I replied cheerfully.
He sent me a "kiss," and then went to his meeting, which I interrupted frequently with my inane texts, that consisted of giving him updates on the state of my bowels (don't ask...), hoping to brighten his day.
If nothing else, at least I'm distracting him from his work stress, right?
