Polyp, n. A usually nonmalignant growth or tumor protruding from the mucous lining of an organ such as the nose, bladder, or intestine, often causing obstruction.
I was standing in the kitchen, scanning the contents of my pantry and fridge.
"I need something..." I complained to Jeremy, as he busied himself putting away crayons.
"What about those berry things...?" He asked, shoving a handful of crayons into the too-small box.
"Berry things??"
He grunted and successfully got all the coloring instruments put away.
"You know..those berry polyp things."
"Berry polyp...?"
My mind was racing to figure out what on earth he was talking about.
He sighed at my obvious mental struggle, and walked over and pulled out this:
"OOOOooooooh!" I exclaimed.
I had to agree...it did look like a polyp. But, for some reason, it just didn't sound good. I wonder why...
