Curious?
I love tradition...and I'm a creature of habit. And, as we all know, traditions are habits that have stuck and everyone accepts as normal (like our annual consumption of small balls of cow stewed in sour milk and hot chicken juice at Mom and Dad's house every Christmas).
One of my favorite traditions is to go to Build-A-Bear when we find out what we are having.
We didn't do it with Josh because they didn't exist in Utah at the time, and I had very little imagination six years ago.
When we found out we were having Eva, we let Josh build an animal, too (a cat with a meowing hand...I will NEVER get another noise-making build-a-whatever EVER AGAIN. It's incessant and involuntary meowing is grating on the nerves, even when you aren't pregnant, which is probably why the kids like it.) I built her a nice, pink bear dressed like a newborn baby, which she shuns. I may have to let her make her own someday.
With Lily, I chose a nice, soft polar bear. I made sure it wasn't all stiff like Josh's cat. That thing looks and feels like rigor mortis has set in, and the only reason I know it's not dead is because of the above mentioned meowing. But, Josh likes it, so I guess that's what matters.
So, this morning we toddled over to the OB-GYN and I held my breath as the little x-ray wand oozed over my stomach, and when the ultrastenographer asked expectantly, "Well, Dara, what do you thing that is (indicating the nethers of my little baby X)?" I wasn't sure and so I didn't say anything for fear of being wrong. She suggested that I should be familiar with the ins and outs of ultrastenography by this point, and, frankly, I still think they make it up ("This blob is the bladder, which is not to be confused with this similar blob, the stomach, and this blob is the kidney and this other blob you really can't make out is the other kidney..."). The only thing you can really tell for sure is that it is, indeed, human. Or, at least is has arms and legs, and there is no tail, so it's a pretty safe guess that it is...

Yes...
I named her Evie, for our little, immanent Eden Elise (who likes to wiggle her toes). Am I excited, you ask? A better question would be, "Am I ecstatic?" and it would be an emphatic "YES!" I love the thought of having a little troupe of girls.
Before you feel bad for Josh, he told me yesterday that he hoped Baby X was a girl. When I asked him if he would like a brother, too, he said, "no..." I guess he is boy enough for everybody, including himself! Or perhaps he likes the idea of being leader of a girl posse.

Josh will be a great big brother. Just remind him that he is the protector and he will do a great job.
Remind me to tell you about Evan being the protector for Aislyn and Allisa...
