Our trip

Southern California is Eden. It really is.

After trudging through miles and miles of snow-ridden land, up popped the palm trees, blue sky, and ocean!

We arrived at Becky's house promptly 2 hours late, and proceeded to settle into our new home. When we walked up to the door, Becky ran up, threw confetti at us and shouted "Yay! Let's have fun!"

We went to the spanish market, the farmer's market, the beach, the movies, all the while Becky was throwing confetti at us and shouting "Yay!" All the confetti got to the boys, and so Becky decided that just us girls should go to Barnes and Nobel. I was getting pretty tired at that point and I commented to Becky,

"You are funning me out."
"Yay!" More confetti.

She then proceeded to drag me up the down escalator, and began throwing card and bead kits at me. "Yay!" Yet more confetti. Where is she getting all this confetti? Did she buy in bulk or something?

We went to Disneyland (More obligatory confetti, and an extra "Yay!") and I think Joshua and Eva thought we had all gone crazy and took them to the looney bin. Eva was stoick most of the time, observing her surroundings like she was going to give Walt himself an amusement audit. After every ride Joshua went on, I asked him if he liked it and he said "Yeah..."

"Do you want to do it again?"
"NO!"

You should have seen his face during his ride with Jeremy on the Tea Cups...It went from "Wee!" to "Whoa..." to "What the...?" and "I am gonna throw up..."

Eva (like her mommy) enjoyed the shops the most.
The next day we went to see Jeremy's uncle, Dale.

Now, Dale is completely and TOTALLY addicted to Sunny Delight. When we showed up and rang the doorbell, nobody answered. We kept ringing, and then Joshua helped himself to the door and walked inside. Still nobody.
"Gee, I hope he's not...ya know...'gone,'" I said, looking sideways at Jeremy.

"Eeya..." Jeremy then decided that it would be best if he went to investigate by himself...
There was Dale, on his bed, surrounded by 8 empty gallon bottles of Sunny D, snoozing away.

Jeremy had to shake him a little, and Dale woke with a start. "HI!" he shouted, and started buzzing around the house.
After that, every meal we had with Dale, he would ask us if we wanted any Sunny Delight.

"W-w-w-w-o-u-l-d y-y-o-u l-l-i-i-k-e s-s-s-o-o-m-e-t-h-i-n-g t-t-o d-d-r-i-n-k?" he asked me, lifting the bottle and attempting to pour me some.
"Yes, thank you," I said, moving my cup around to catch the stray streams of bright orange drink.

All in all, it was a lovely stay with him, and his dog, Dumby, was great entertainment for Joshua. Normally minature poodles are supposed to be very intelligent, but sheesh...that dog...It was funny to watch, though. Joshua has the same attention span as Dumby, and they both respond to the same commands. So when we would say "Joshua! Come!" Dumby would come running. And when you wanted to get either's attention, they both would run around in circles, ignore you, and keep being disobedient. They were quite the pair.

Eva didn't like Dumby (Actually his name is Tinker, but still...), and every time he would run by her she would wince and start to scream. She insisted on being held whenever Dumby was about, and when we tried to put her down she would fold her legs up so she couldn't touch the ground, or she would wrap them tightly on my leg or waist. Silly girl...

We finished off our trip by going to the L.A. Zoo. Nothing to exciting about that, except for the fact that I think there are more monkeys in my home than in the exhibit.

We are glad to be home!

Sounds like fun... and that you need a vacation after having your vacation. :) That's why I will periodically tell Ben that I just want to stay home for vacation. He always looks at me like I'm crazy, but those of us who know... yes... those of us who know.

The beach pictures are beautiful! The ocean actually looks like it's your friend. (Me, I had a different experience. The ocean spat and cursed at me.)

You look great! What's with all this fatty talk you've been whining about?!

Well, I don't know about all the confetti... I don't remember throwing any... :)

We did have a lot of fun and you did say that I was funning you out - That's what the gonzales family does best - ask dave... :)

The trip was too short, wish you could have stayed longer. If Victor e-mails me the pictures he took I will post them in a new blog

Our trip to St. George wasn't nearly as fun as yours to So. Cal. No confetti. No beach. No Disneyland. Instead, we hiked part of the Virgin River Trail, part of Snow's Canyon West Canyon Trail, the Mathis Trail, and part of the Temple Quarry Trail, enjoying the blue skies and lovely temperatures. And we also hiked the stairs several times each day in the St. George Temple!
