Thar She BLOOOWWWWSSSS!!!!

So.

Dad has gotten me hooked on several TV shows: Firefly, Farscape, Babylon 5 (sadly...), Star Trek (all generations), etc. It's really sad when you know you have poor taste, and yet you enjoy every second of those shows anyway. Sigh...

The latest thing Dad has got me hooked on is "Horatio Hornblower." Ahhh...Makes me want to quit normal life, don a pointy, three-cornered hat, and jump on the nearest frigate to the West Indies (hey, I just realized all the shows Dad likes are nautical in some fashion...all on ships...all with the whole captain thing going on...the "Ay ay Captain!" thing...I think you chose the wrong military group, Dad. You should have been in the navy.). Jeremy, being my exact copy (except male), was just as sucked into these shows as I, and we subsequently have stayed up way past our bedtimes many a night trying to squeeze in as many episodes of Horatio as we can (I think we finished all eight in two days). Well... they aren't episodes, they are made-for-TV movies (When Jeremy was still in school, we watched 5 or 6 Farscape episodes in row right before he had finals....Really bad idea. They say that for every hour you stay up past midnight, you lose a year of life. If this were true, I would be dead. BUT, they also say that you gain weight if you stay up late, so I can blame all my weight gain on Dad, because he subjected us to these shows.)

I really like Horatio. He is the ultimate good guy--kinda like Anne in "Anne of Green Gables." I think, though, if you put them in the same room the universe would fold in on itself. (Horatio also has a best friend like Anne does, but I think they would get along. I think Archie and Diana were cut from the same cloth. Hating yet loving their very best friends.)

I was disappointed to find out that they aren't going to make any more "Horatio Hornblower" episodes. Ioan Gruffud (Eeyaa..What a horrible name) who plays Horatio, says he is trying to get the rights to C.S. Forester's books to make a real movie (He was also the main guy in "Fantastic Four." You know...the stretchy guy...).
If you haven't checked out Horatio, you should. I plan on reading the books, and will let you know how they are! I can only imagine that they are better than the movies, as books usually are. Dad could tell you. He has all of them.

I like the Hornblower movies too. I'm sad they aren't doing the others. I've not read the books, but I remember your dad reading them--he gobbled them up like candy.

Ah yes... Star Trek...
Let us not forget that wonderful mini-series: The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. I still giggle about Slartybartfarst.... "I told you it wasn't important."

Hey! Babylon 5 is the best of the best of the worst. The acting is non parel, the special effects are... well ... special. Never bad-mouth a series that someone paid hard money for. Now back to the Outer Limits.
