Little Drummer Boy

Since it has been snowy and nasty outside, our family ritual of taking walks after dinner has been suspended. But last night, Jeremy and I got the bug, and threw our kids in their snow suits and plunged into the winter wonderland that is our parking lot. It's a good thing our bike trailer has big tires...
I was happy to see that some of the houses we walked by still had their Christmas lights up (I shouldn't have been surprised...I mean, Christmas was just last Thursday...But I took our Christmas tree down 3 minutes after the kids had unwrapped their presents because I COULDN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE! AAAAAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!!!!), and our walk was pretty cheerful (except when Eva screamed because her ride was a little too bumpy.) About ten minutes into the walk, we decided that Joshua, who had been tripping through the snow blissfully, needed to sit in the trailer so that we could speed up our walk (We had to be home exactly at 7 because someone was supposed to come and buy my bird cage...That's the second person to call and not show up...blah...I think they are casing the joint, as they say, and when they realize I live in an apartment in the ghetto, they give up.). Joshua was pretty pleasant about sitting (although I had to gently throw him in the snow a few times to make him happier about it) and as we finished our circut, Joshua started singing.
"Pa RUMP A PUM PUM! RUMP A PUM PUM! RUMP A PUM PUM!"
Jeremy and I looked at eachother and laughed.
"I didn't even know he knew that song," Jeremy laughed.
Our amazement fueled our little singer, and he started singing louder, with some other added words.
"Garble garble garble RUMP A PUM PUM! RUMP A PUM PUM! RUMP A PUM PUM!" Jeremy tried to help out:
"Come, he told me, pa rump a pum pum! What's the next line..?"
"It's 'come they told me,'" I poked.
"Whatever...Come they told me! pa rump a pum pum! Joshua listen!"
"GARBLE GARBLE GARBLE PA RUMP A PUM PUM! RUMP A PUM PUM! RUMP A PUM PUM! RUMP A PUM PUM! RUMP A PUM PUM!"
We decided to give up, and let our little drummer boy do it his own way. By the end of our walk, though, he got the "Come they told me" part.
I love those moments when my son is so cute I want to squeeze him!

Makes me want to squeeze him too. :)

Just goes to show: kids are learning all the time. At his age they are veritable sponges.

I am watching far too much TV!

Dad: You have officially been indoctrinated into the Sponge Bob Society.

Dara: Audrey hasn't started singing lyrics yet, but she does hum along to her favorite commercials. And we were just noticing today that her dance moves have been seriously upgrades lately. :)

I have another story about my little sponge, but I am saving that for another blog. :)
The pictures are probably some of the only ones where everyone is in them. Jeremy is always the photographer, so it was nice getting him in these shots. They kinda remind me of those photo booths at the mall. I liked the first two as well...the last one made me look fatter than I would like to believe I am. I am fully expecting a blog with Audrey's crazy dance moves, Emily!
