New Dryer

A few weeks ago, our washing machine ceased to agitate (well, it agitated me...) so our clothes were merely getting soaked and swished around a little. We bought one for 50 bucks, thinking it was a year old...it wasn't a year old, but it agitated, and that's all I really wanted. An agitating washing machine. It was more agitating than I anticipated, but I digress...let's just say that a steel tub makes A LOT of noise...or rather, an old steel tub makes A LOT of noise.

We bought our dryer used as well...yeeeeaaaaahhhh...........

It is kinda funny (in a really sick twisted way) that our washer and dryer died at about the same time. Perhaps they were in love or something and couldn't bear to be apart...or something...

Anyway, so Jeremy and I were trying to figure out if we should get another used one (BOO!!) or get a new one (YAY!) or get a new one PLUS a new washing machine (DOUBLE YAY!). Unfortunately, we didn't have enough funds to buy both (Just you WAIT! I WILL COME BACK FOR YOU, OH SHINY WASHING MACHINE!), but we got a new, sleek, Maytag dryer (Warning: Paper melts in a Maytag dryer..paper melts in any dryer...except magnet papers, which just make a mess, but keep their shape..figure that one out. I don't recommend trying it out for yourself. AND be sure to check pockets so you don't accidentally experience this...).

We brought it home, took it out of the box, hooked it up, and then we eagerly threw laundry in it to see if it worked (I don't know why we thought it wouldn't...paranoid I guess.). The first thing we discovered was that there is a light in the dryer (WOW! *bling bling*) and we could see all our wet clothes down to the finest detail. The second thing we noticed was you could fit a rather large adult into it, if you needed to. I don't know why you would need to, but just in case, you now know. (If you need to put a large adult into a dryer, I am sorry, you may not use ours).

We threw in a dryer sheet, shut the door (being very sad the happy light went away), and turned on the dryer. It worked! Hallelujah! (Why were we so surprised? Sheesh...)

As we sat there staring at our new appliance I became very distraught.

"Jeremy!" I said, panicking. "How do we turn it off??!"

This new dryer had every button possible; where was the off button!? I pushed buttons and twisted nobs trying to figure out if we would ever turn off the dryer, and worried about what would happen if we couldn't (OH HORRORS!!!!).

Jeremy presented me with a slightly amused look and said,

"You just open the door."

"OH YEAH!" I said, feeling slightly deflated.

Whew...that was a close one. The dryer that never turned off...think of the electric bill...

So, there you have it.

And EVERYONE REMEMBER! To turn off a dryer you just need to open the door! Everyone got that?

I know the feeling of wonder and awe that descends in the presence of a brand new appliance . . . that WORKS . . . with a soft comforting hum . . . making you sit staring at it with reverence and love. *** Is this idol-worship? Or idle worship? hehehe

By the way, there is a new Sears outlet store that just opened in Orem. Their advertised claim is: "Nobody beats our prices or we will match the price PlUS give you 50% off the difference!"

It's located at 366 East University Pkwy (I think you used to work at a fabric store that was located there once).

I tried turning off the front-loading washer that way with unhappy results. Soapy feet!

LOL! Yeah...another reason top-loaders are better.
"qujvawoy" The name of the little chinese person who made the front-loading washer.

I'm so happy for you, and your little elf too.

I remember getting our new washer and dryer. They are both front loaders with little windows. The washer has a light that you can leave on while your load is agitating. The first time I turned it on I sat in front of the washer for nearly 30 minutes watching the clothes go around and around and around. . . it almost gives me the same feeling as I get when I mow my lawn. . .
